Madras Cements Ltd is the flagship company of the Ramco Group, a well-known
business group of South India. It is headquartered at Chennai. The main product
of the company is Portland cement, manufactured in five state-of-the art

SRI RAMCO LANKA (PRIVATE) LIMITED
Recognizing the substantial demand for fibre cement sheets in Sri-Lanka, Ramco
Industries started a wholly-owned subsidiary company in Sri-Lanka-Sri Ramco
Lanka (Private) Limited. The Factory is located at Makandura Industrial Park in
North West Province. It has two modern plants to manufacture fibre cements
corrugated sheets for roofings and flat sheet for ceiling and partition
purposes. The annual capacity of both plants are about 1,20,000MT.
The company has been accredited with ISO Quality Systems Certificate (ISO
14001/EN ISO 14001) by RWTUV Systems GmbH, Germany, to the effect that it has
established and applies an Environmental Management System for manufacture and
supply of fibre cement corrugated sheets, flat sheets and accessories.
A new plant with a capacity of 1,40,000 M.T. per annum is being set up as a
wholly-owned subsidiary “Sri Ramco Roofing Lanka Private Limited” in Matugama in
Kalutara District.

Right from its gestation, the Ramco group has ensured that its germination was
spurred by rich nutrients such as commitment to its stakeholders. What sprouted
as Rajapalayam Mills in 1938 with only 6800 spindles now stands as a mighty
banyan producing over 7 million kilograms of yarn per year.
RAJAPALAYAM MILLS LIMITED
Established in 1938, with 6,800 spindles imported from England, Rajapalayam
Mills today produces 15 million kgs of yarn per year, employs more than 2000
workers and has a turnover of over Rupees 250 crores. Acknowledged as the most
efficient spinning mill in the industry, Rajapalayam Mills has set the industry
standard for quality and price in cotton yarn manufacture with substantial
production increases through modernization. Today the company has a capacity of
1,21,856 Spindles (including 12,960 compact spinning spindles) and 3,816 Rotors.
A technologically advanced unit right from its inception, the mill’s
start-of-the-art equipment ensures optimum spinning efficiency and
profitability. The Mill traditionally makes quality counts from 6’s to 110’s and
exports 80% of its spinning capacity to highly quality conscious markets like
Japan, Korea and Thailand. It is a point to note that the Mill has maintained
harmonious industrial relations for over 60 years now.
THE RAMARAJU SURGICAL COTTON MILLS LIMITED
Established in 1939, The Ramaraju Surgical Cotton Mills has been manufacturing
Surgical Dressings and Yarn to International standards for over 65 years. Latest
infrastructure, scientific methods and expert supervision ensure that products
conform to global standards. With a present turnover of Rupees 1500 million, it
caters to a sizeable portion of the domestic market, as well as to markets in
European and Gulf countries.
The Mill boasts of the latest production facilities and fully-equipped and
sophisticated laboratories which control the process and quality at every stage
of manufacture. Modern methods of production and sterilization by E.T.O ensure
that every pack of cotton or dressing is of the highest quality meeting the
hygienic standards recommended by the W.H.O. Today, the name “Ramaraju” is the
established market leader in Surgical Dressing in the South Indian market.
SUDARSANAM SPINNING MILLS
Sudarsanam Spinning Mills, a subsidiary of The Ramaraju Surgical Cotton Mills
Limited, was established in 1958 and currently has a capacity of 70,656 Spindles
and 2,440 Rotors for the production of high quality yarn for 10’s and 110’s.
State-of-the-art equipment like the BD 330 Open End Spinning Machine latest
Autoconers and TFO machines ensure that right quality of yarn is supplied to the
customers.
A new unit of 28,800 spindles capacity was established in Silvassa, Union
Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli in the year 2003 for the manufacture of cotton
yarn.
The quality yarn enjoys an excellent reputation in both domestic and
international markets like Italy and the Gulf Countries.
SRI VISHNU SHANKAR MILL LIMITED
Sri Vishnu Shanker Mill was established in 1981 and commenced production in 1983
with a capacity of 12,000 spindles. The modernization programme, carried out in
stages, inducted newer, technologically sophisticated equipment propelling the
company to a turnover of Rupees 150 Crores. Today the company has a capacity of
64,032 spindles (including 2016 compact spinning spindles) and 2016 rotors.
The Mill produces yarn of various counts ranging from 10’s to 60’s. A discerning
clientele from Korea, Japan and China endorse the superior quality of this yarn.
The Mill has many awards to its credit including ‘Good Industrial Relation’
awards from the Government of TamilNadu and ‘National Safety’ awards from the
Government of India.
RAJAPALAIYAM SPINTEXT
Rajapalaiyam Spintext, a 100% export-oriented unit and a subsidiary of
Rajapalayam Mills Limited, commenced production of high quality cotton yarn in
1991. With a capacity of 33,552 spindles and a turnover of Rupees 49 Crores, the
company exports its entire production of high quality yarn to countries like
Japan, Malaysia and Thailand. State-of-the-art machinery in this unit has
greatly contributed to the quality and success of its yarn in International
Markets
SRI RAMCO SPINNERS
Sri Ramco Spinners, a 100% export-oriented unit and a division of Ramco
Industries Limited, commenced operations in 1991 with the objective of supplying
superior 100% medium and coarse count yarn to the export market.
State-of-the-art machinery, with a capacity of 43,296 spindles, has helped the
unit to achieve a turnover of around Rupees 700 million.
SANDHYA SPINNING MILL LIMITED
Established in 1994, the company has a present capacity of 50,352 Spindles and
2464 Rotors and a turnover of Rupees 1000 million. The Mill observes strict
quality control measures and has added new machinery to an already impressive
list. The company exports superior yarn to the Italian and Far East Markets.
RAJAPALAIYAM TEXTILES
Established in 1996 as a 100% export oriented unit and a subsidiary of
Rajapalayam Mills Limited, for the manufacture of cotton yarn with a spindle
capacity of 17,136 ring spindles, Rajapalaiyam Textiles has achieved a turnover
of Rupees 28 crores today. It has the distinction of being the premier quality
yarn supplier to the Japanese, Indonesian and Hong Kong markets.

Thanjavur Spinning Mill Limited, taken into the fold of Ramco Group, has 50,160
Spindles and 776 Rotors with an annual sales turnover of Ruppees 50 crores. |

SHRI RAMCO BIOTECH |

With the establishment of Shri Ramco Biotech in 1995, the
Ramco Group has diversified into the field of Biotechnology. Shri Ramco Biotech
(a division of Rajapalayam Mills Ltd.,) produces tissue culture plants for a
world-wide clientele.
A modern tissue culture laboratory has been setup at the outskirts of Bangalore,
South India, equipped with the finest state-of-the-art machinery sourced from
India and abroad. Bangalore’s climatic condition is well-suited for tissue
culture and cut flower projects.
The lab has a built-up area of 2,600 Sq.m and a capacity to deliver 5 million
plants per annum. With the export of ornamental plants as the main area of
focus, the lab is designed to international standards of excellence with US
class 10,000 cleanliness maintained in the plant growth rooms.
A new international airport under construction here, will facilitate the speedy
delivery of ornamental plants to various international destinations.
The unit also produces Anthurium, Banana, Gerbera and Orchids for the domestic
market. Twelve acres of verdant fertile land surrounding the lab is used of
green house hardening facility, Research and Development trials and
Demonstration. |
